Nova Coast has a message that you can bounce to. I mean, have you even heard Nova Coast’s new song High Speed? It’s one of those tracks you listen to when you need that extra push or motivation. Music has the ability to alter moods and Nova Coast definitely uses that to his advantage in High Speed. As a listener and lover of Hip Hop Nova Coast made me feel something. That’s what music is about, right?
Nova Coast is a Hip Hop artist from Greenbelt, Maryland. In his own words he describes his music as follows: “pure from the heart, outside the box of norms, peaceful, loving, motivational and inspirational”. Not only is his music inspirational but also the way in which Nova Coast manages to be a stay at home father - this is an act that shatters norms. It seems as though Nova Coast lives his music.
Every artist has their musings or inspirations and Nova Coast’s inspirations come from artists like Jaden Smith, Travis Scott, and Machine Gun Kelly.
Nova Coast is no stranger to internet trolls stating that “I’m often criticized”. Nova Coast puts out a lot of content and visibility attracts many critics. Nova Coast uses the criticism as motivation to continue to create. What keeps Nova Coast focused even under pressure is setting goals and seeing those goals through.
He says, “for example, I’ll say I’m going to perform at this open mic and I go do it and record it for all my fans to see”.
Nova Coast is driven by the grind, he creates a way! Nova Coast has shot and edited his very own music videos at home all while being an active stay at home father. Nova Coast is no shy stranger to the camera. When he was about ten or eleven is when he first began shooting videos with his brother. He and his brother mimicked what they saw on MTV and BET creating their own music videos with their home digital camera.
A life altering moment for Nova Coast was when he was out riding his bike and subsequently stopped by the police at gunpoint. This incident led to the fear of going outside. Music and joining the military helped Nova Coast cope with the trauma of the incident. The title behind Nova Coast’s new single High Speed is based off of a phrase he uses in the Air Force. Nova Coast explains - “High Speed means you’re doing stuff on another level of focus, performance and professionalism. I try to carry that same philosophy to my music.”
